- Pay – 173.00/hr
Job Summary:
The podiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing common conditions related to the foot, ankle, and lower leg in both child and adult patients referred by attending physicians. The position requires providing minor procedures requiring local anesthesia, collaborating with medical doctors to offer comprehensive care, and addressing diabetic foot issues through education and preventive measures.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat common podiatry conditions such as diabetic foot, onychomycosis, corns/calluses, nail/foot/ankle injuries.
- Perform minor procedures including soft tissue & nail surgery, excision of skin lesions or debridement, arthrocentesis of small joints, and I&D of abscesses under local anesthesia.
- Provide education and preventive care to diabetic patients to avoid foot complications, with at least one annual appointment and more frequent visits as needed on a case-by-case basis.
- Collaborate with medical doctors to offer comprehensive patient care, including consultation and referral for further treatment when necessary.
- Work closely with the clinic nurse to assist during patient examinations.
- Attend podiatry clinics twice a month (every two weeks) for half a day within the hospital.
Requirements:
- Professional degree in Podiatric Medicine (DPM) or equivalent qualification.
- Current licensure as a Podiatrist and board-certification.
- Experience with diagnosing and treating common podiatry conditions, including minor procedures.
- Knowledge of diabetic foot care and preventive measures.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with medical doctors and providing patient education.
- Ability to work independently in a clinic setting while also contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
