Phlebotomist Responsibilities:
- Collect various specimens, primarily blood, with additional samples such as urine and cultures as required by a physician’s order, standing order, or protocol.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques to collect blood samples from inmates.
- Document all procedures in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Log samples and related data, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and arranging for specimen pick-up or delivery.
- Maintain schedules, record patient information, and perform related clerical tasks.
Phlebotomist Qualifications:
- Certificate from an accredited Phlebotomy program.
- Ability to relate to and treat all patients.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, management, and documentation.
- Ability to work in diverse environments with patients, staff and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintains confidentiality and uses good judgment.
- Adaptable to organizational changes.
- Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
