Experience:
- Two Years of Recent/Current Clinical Hospital or LTC Nursing experience.
- Two Years Supervisory experience or at the least an indication of Supervisor capabilities with recommendations by a current Supervisor/Manager.

We have an URGENT NEED for $75.00 Registered Nurses Supervisor Correctional/Contractual (RN) to begin immediately at the following facilities.
The following FULL-TIME shifts are available for IMMEDIATE HIRE:
- Jackson – Duane Waters Correctional Facility
- Overnights
A 2 step TB test and drug screen are required.
The RN Supervisor helps the HUM and RNM 13 oversee the day-to-day operations of the correctional clinic – aiding in the supervision of contractual nursing staff, which include LPNs and RNs. These LPNs and RNs are providing direct patient care and assuring that all patients receive appropriate health care. This oversight is over care that is provided in the general population units, segregation units, and RTP unit.
Qualifications of the Registered Nurse Correctional/Contractual (RN):
- Valid Michigan License as a Registered Nurse
- Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management, and documentation skills.
- Experience in venipuncture skills and intravenous therapy administration.
- Must possess the disposition of the personality to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and all levels of staff and interact professionally as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experienced in weekly payroll and timekeeping.
- Accepts and makes timely referrals to and from other health care facilities.
- Monitors assignments and schedules for daily nursing duties and tasks.
- Identifies and corrects employee performance and competencies.
- Conducts weekly rounding of medication and tools, completes inventory count.
- Proficient in EMR systems
- Certified to provide Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse Correctional/Contractual (RN)
Supervision and Direct Patient Care
- Works in tandem with the RNM 13 and HUM, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the health care area.
- Makes assignments and schedules for daily nursing duties/tasks.
- Provides direct patient care, performing segregation rounds, evaluating high risk patients including those in observation and on hunger strikes.
- Evaluates performance and competencies of contractual nurses. Reports issues/concerns to HUM.
- Identifies and corrects employee performance problems with contractual nurses and reports issues/concerns to the HUM.
- Identifies training needs with contractual staff.
- Develops and maintains constructive communications with other departments, regions, facilities, peers and officials.
- Participates in facility and clinic committees.
- Maintains and monitors appropriate staffing levels to include obtaining voluntary and mandatory overtime.
- Assures adherence to applicable Peer Review, Performance and Attorney General Audits.
- Assists in training contractual staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Teamwork, Team Building, Interdisciplinary/Collaborative Responsibilities
- Participates as a team member in the provision of nursing and health care interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care, which includes being a member of the weekly case management.
- Communicates with the patient, criminal justice system, human resources, and other health care providers.
- Makes appropriate and timely referrals to other health care professionals.
- Acts as a patient advocate for provision of care and ethical issues.
- Accepts referrals from other health care professionals and departments.
- Develops a team relationship with other health care team members.
- Participates in health care decision making and seeks participation from other staff.
Timekeeping
- Calculates weekly payroll for contractual staff, ensuring that agencies receive timesheets timely and with accuracy. Communicates with HUM and RNM 13 if there are issues/concerns related to payroll.
Counts and Inventories
- Does weekly rounding of medication rooms and tool storage areas ensuring that narcotic counts and tool counts are accurate and nursing staff are counting and signing each shift. Immediately alerts HUM and RNM 13 to any issues related to counts
- Monthly, at a minimum, inventories the PDB, EDB, Biologicals, ensuring a par level is kept on hand. Also ensures that sign out sheets are being filled out accurately.
- Ensures all refrigerators are monitored daily for adequate temperature. Ensures storage of medications/specimens is per guidelines.
- Inventories clinic supplies monthly, making a list of what is needed and provides to HUM for ordering.
Communication and Documentation
- Communicates appropriate, accurately, and timely with patients, staff, and administration verbally and in writing.
- Maintains accurate legible and confidential records.
- Documents nursing assessments, interventions, and plan of care.
- Provides information regarding patient assessments to other health care members.
- Consults with supervisor/manager, other health care professionals, and departments as issues and concerns require.
- Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and employees.
- Uses the Electronic Health Record system.
Uses Outlook, and other department approved computer systems.
